Reproductive System Slides - Male

• Seminiferous tubules

  (portions of three are shown)

  In the upper left tubule you can clearly see:

  sperm

  You can see their flagella.

  spermatocytes

  As they migrate from the outside towards the center they mature.

• Seminal vesicle

  The darker pink glob is seminal fluid.

• Uterus
  • Myometrium is the outside circumferential layer.
  • Endometrium is inside the myometrium.
• Ovary
  • Graafian follicle

    Fluid fills the antrum surrounding an oocyte.

    Within the antrum are:

    • oocyte within Graafian follicle
    • zona pellucida around the oocyte
    • corona radiata around the zona pellucida
    • cumulus oophorous is the cells attaching an oocyte and associated structures to the follicle wall
  • immature follicles

    Within an immature follicle is an oocyte in contact with the walls of the follicle, but there is no antrum nor other associated structures.
