Rose Hall Great House

Rose Hall Great House

Located in St. James Parish, the house was constructed between 1770 and 1780. Its most legendary inhabitant was a tiny, wispy woman by the name of Annie Palmer. She was an individual given to the practice of witchcraft and was also notoriously cruel to her slaves. Her greatest legacy, however, resides in the fact that she was a serial killer—murdering several husbands, numerous lovers and a significant number of slaves. Ironically, a commercial perfume keeps her memory alive today—its name being “white witch.”

Bainbridge College students visit the Rose Hall Great House in 2002.
