Located in the interior a long the south coast, the town has a considerable number of German residents, who are most distinguishable from the general population. The Germans were encouraged to migrate here following the end of slavery. The town also allows tours of a one-room school where the students sing and perform for visitors. Not far away are bauxite mines.
