Dialog Box Controls

Sometimes when using an application program, a dialog box will appear. This happens when a command is given but the software needs more information before it can carry out the order. A dialog box usually shows the settings which affect the action and gives the user a chance to modify or accept them.

Moving between the controls in a dialog box may be done by clicking with the mouse or pressing the Tab key. Like a menu, controls in a dialog box can be activated with the ALT key in combination with the control label’s underlined letter.

Only a few different controls are used in all the dialog boxes you will encounter so once you learn these, you will be able to effectively give commands to the software.
