  1. Discover your interests, abilities, and the things that are important to you. Use the Myers-Briggs Test Inventory or the Strong-Campbell Career Inventory Test.

  2. Think about what you want in a career, based on your self-discovery.

  3. Talk to your parents or guardian, teachers, and others about your dreams for the future.

  4. Explore your options. Use GCIS as a start (see http;//www.gcic.peachnet.edu and explore!).

  5. Determine the postsecondary educational requirements and training needed for your chosen career area. Consult college catalogues.

  6. Plan your high school courses to get you where you want to go (use the GCIS planning guide)

  7. Use all the career and college resources in your school. Work with your guidance counselor, advisor, Tech Prep coordinator, etc. Continue to involve your parents or guardian in the discussion.
